  • Helton Creek Falls

    Located 11.5 miles from Blairsville on Hwy 129 south. Turn left on the first road past the entrance to Vogel State Park. The lower falls drop over a 30’ ledge, tumbling to a pool below. The second upper falls is a tall, full fall that drops 60 feet. Pick up a waterfalls guide in the Welcome Center and experience the beauty of many local falls. Helton Creek Falls and Wolf Creek Falls are two of our favorites!

    Lake Winfield Scott

    Off of Hwy 180 in Suches, Lake Winfield Scott offers year round fishing and a swimming area open from May through October.

    Lake Nottely

    One of North Georgia’s most beautiful lakes! Pontoon boat, jet ski, and kayak rentals are available as well as guided fishing and recreational trips.

    Poteete Creek Recreation Area

    Located 13 miles north of Blairsville, on beautiful Lake Nottely, Poteete Creek is open April 1st thru October 15th. A boat ramp, picnic tables, beach area, pavilion, fishing, restrooms, and showers are available.

    Vogel State Park

    Vogel offers fishing, hiking, paddle boats, and miniature golf. Rent one of the pavilions and enjoy swimming at the lake. Don’t miss the waterfall within the park!

    Appalachian Trail

    Union County is home to the only covered portion of the Appalachian Trail. Hike the AT to the peak of Blood Mountain or choose one of many other connecting trails.

    Brasstown Bald

    Georgia Highway 180 / 706-896-2556
    Brasstown Bald is the highest mountain in Georgia. From the summit, you will have a panoramic view of 4 states. Hike to the top or take a shuttle from May to October.

    Track Rock Petroglyphs

    Track Rock Gap Road / 706-745-6928
    Track Rock Gap is one of the best known sites for historical petroglyphs, or marked stones. It consists of six table sized soapstone boulders containing hundreds of symbols carved into the surface.

    Disc Golf

    Disc golf, aka Frisbee golf, is a fun, new way to enjoy the outdoors. Check out our 18 hole course at Meeks Park.

    Horseback Riding

    Get back to nature and explore the countryside on horseback. Stables cater to riders of all ages and levels.
