    Pick up a waterfalls guide in the Welcome Center and experience the beauty of many local falls. Helton Creek Falls (Helton Falls Road) and Wolf Creek Falls (Vogel State Park) are two of our favorites!

    Spend a Day on the Water

    Take in a day on beautiful Lake Nottely. Pontoon boat and jet ski rentals are available as well as guided fishing trips. Poteete Creek Recreation Area offers a public beach and fishing. Lake Winfield Scott in Suches is perfect for a leisure day of fishing or canoeing - non motorized watercraft only. Families also love tubing the Nottely River.

    See the country’s largest, privately owned O-gauge model train display with 14 trains traveling on a mile of track in a 4000 square foot display of southern Appalachia from Atlanta to Asheville. Tours on Mon, Wed, Fri, & Sat at 1:30pm.

    Witness the Remains of History

    Track Rock Gap is one of the best known sites of petroglyphs, or marked stones, in Northeast Georgia. These six table-sized soapstone boulders contain hundreds of symbols carved into the surface.

    Seasonal Tip: Check out the Union County Farmers Market on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings with over 60 vendors providing home grown produce and handmade craft items.

    Festival Fun: The Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games are held annually the second weekend of June. Fourth of July Celebrations include fireworks, a Boat Parade on Lake Nottely, and Vogel State Park Independence Day Celebration. The Butternut Creek Festival is held in mid July, and the Green Bean Festival is held the last weekend in July. The Mountain Heritage Festival is held over Labor Day weekend.
