    PAINTING A PORTRAIT: NEEL AND FREUD – Class Limit 10
    Jake Bennett, 6 Sessions, Friday, January 18 – February 22, 3:15 pm – 5:15 pm
    Classes will be held at YHC Campus Gate Gallery
     
    This course will examine the basic foundational techniques used in painting such as brush variation, color theory, and composition. Students will learn these techniques to execute their own oil painting based on portraits by Lucian Freud and Alice Neel. A materials fee of $22 will be collected the first day of class.
      
    Jake Bennett grew up in Ellijay, Georgia but spent most summers visiting family in the Towns County area. He became interested in art as a child and pursued this interest at Young Harris College. After graduating in 2016, Bennett pursued his Master’s degree in Art Gallery and Museum Studies at the University of Leeds in England. Currently, Bennett is the art gallery director at Young Harris as well as an adjunct professor of art. He spends his free time painting for pleasure and commission, quilting, reading modernist novels and memoirs, and running his self-launched vintage clothing line.
