    Name: Free Seminar: Firewise Communities
    Date: March 29, 2019
    Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Our speakers will be Frank Riley, Executive Director at the Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D Council and Tony Harkins, Chief Ranger with the GA Forestry Commission. The risk of wildfires in our area was never more apparent as in 2016 when fires destroyed many homes. Learn how to protect yourself and your community with the Firewise program, a framework that helps communities get organized to reduce their risk. This seminar, sponsored by the Community Council,  Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D Council, Georgia Forestry Commission, and US Forest Service will assist you and your community with developing a plan. Learn about your risks, what you can do to reduce those risks, and what resources are available to help you. The program is free and light refreshments will be provided.
