Free Seminar and Garden Tour: The Importance of Pollinators
Our presenter is Linda Chafin, Conservation Botanist, Science and Conservation Program, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, University of Georgia. Pollinators are essential to the quality diets we enjoy in the developed world. However, they are a finite resource and there is evidence that pollinators are imperiled from exotic diseases, habitat loss, and intensive management practices. This one hour lecture will overview the place of pollinators in agriculture and steps concerned landowners can take to encourage local populations. Guided tours of the Ethnobotanical Gardens on the grounds of the GMRE Center will follow the lecture.
